Survey among evangelicals

Nearly half of US evangelicals believe God accepts worship from all religions The annual State of Theology survey, conducted by Ligonier, seeks answers about what American Christians think about Jesus Christ, the Bible, and the truth. The most recent comprehensive survey by Ligonier Ministries indicates a great need for American Christians to receive better instruction in the biblical teachings that support their statements of faith. What do Americans think about Jesus Christ, the Bible, truth and ethics? A recent Ligonier Ministries State of Theology survey provides information on this and many more questions. Every two years, Ligonier Ministries measures America's theological temperature to help Christians better understand today's culture and equip the church with better insights for discipleship. The following review lays out the key findings of 2020, offering data from the most comprehensive survey on faith. This study was completed in early March as concerns about COVID-19 began to mount. Who is Jesus for Americans? The identity of Jesus of Nazareth has been a matter of controversy throughout the centuries. He personally claimed to be the Son of God and equal to God (Matthew 11:27; Mark 14:61–62; John 10:33). That is why his enemies sought his death. The Bible and the historic creeds of the Christian church clearly state that Jesus Christ is truly God and truly man. But critics have often said that Jesus was a great teacher and nothing more. The State of Theology survey now reveals that the majority of adults in the United States hold this view. For more information visit www.ligonier.org
