Leah was Jacob's second wife and Rachel's sister. While her younger sister was the preferred and beloved, she was belittled, humiliated and shamed. However, Leah was a woman of prayer and a worshiper of God. The Lord seeing her condition as a "second" began to bless her by giving her children unlike her sister who was sterile. God used Leah by blessing her with His Purpose of bringing men with a divine mission to these lands: Her firstborn Reuben whose meaning is in Hebrew "See, a son" (בְאוּ-בֵן), because God saw that she was despised and then gave her offspring; at the birth of her first child, Leah said: "Because the Lord has seen my affliction, surely now my husband will love me". Her second son was Simeon, which in Hebrew means "God has listened," and he was named that way because his mother Leah said, "Yahweh has listened, because I was hated, and that's why he gave me this one too." Jacob's third son with Leah was Levi whom he named so because he believed that he would be closer to Jacob. The Tribe of Levi arises from Levi, whose members are the so-called Levites, is according to the Bible, one of the Twelve Tribes of Israel. The Bible tells us that the Levites were consecrated by God, through Moses, for the service of the Tabernacle and then of the Temple in Jerusalem. And the fourth child that Leah gives him is Juda and she gives this name to her fourth child because she wanted him to express gratitude and exalt the sovereignty of the Most High. Judah, despite being the fourth, was granted the birthright because his older brothers sinned against their father, Jacob gave him with this the predominant place over his brothers. One of the most relevant facts that denote gratitude and all the praise to the God of Israel to the biblical meaning of Judah is that the king that God called “king according to my heart”, King David, has his ancestry in it. From the house of David would come out some time later the Lion of Judah, the Messiah, the God made man through whom humanity would reach the glory of God, an example made flesh of submission and glory to the will of the Supreme Being. Summary and recommendation When you feel belittled, don't worry because God has big plans for you, because God's thoughts are more than our thoughts. Paul said to us, 26 "Therefore, brothers, take note of your vocation, that you are not many who are wise according to the flesh, nor many who are powerful, nor many who are noble; 27 but God chose the foolish things of the world, to shame the wise; and God chose the weak things of the world, to shame the strong; 28 and God chose the vile things of the world and the despised things, and what is not, to undo what is, 29 so that no one may boast in his presence. 1 Corinthians 1:26-29 Read less
